IN A NUTSHELL
To position Design Hotels as leaders in experimental hospitality—overseeing brand strategy and community engagement for Design Hotels. This role supports the growth and development of the Design Hotels portfolio, as well as ensuring the brand upholds its 30+ year reputation leading industry innovation. This position also bridges the gap between ‘what owners want’ and ‘what we deliver’ as a brand—ensuring we are always offering the most intelligent, useful solutions to keep us ahead of the curve and our competitors. The role will report to the Global Brand Leader.
TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
Community & Brand Strategy
- Develop the global community strategy to fulfill Design Hotels’ vision of becoming the leaders in experimental hospitality, and the ultimate industry connectors
- Outline and manage annual calendar of events that we create and/or participate in including owned events, hotel owned events, B2B conferences, key cultural moments, developing concepts and suggesting relevant partners to support
- Stay on top of industry and consumer trends to inform strategic decisions and identify new opportunities for brand growth
Owner Engagement & Activation
- Devise global ownership engagement strategy to understand owners’ needs and how Design Hotels can better service them
- Work in close collaboration with Account Managers and Portfolio to identify new service, activation or acquisition opportunities
- Ideate and execute global brand activations across the Americas, Asia-Pacific and Europe—including events and community-led partnerships (creative and media partnerships, campaign activation e.g. the book launch)
- Identify exposure opportunities for our hotel members at key industry events (as well as Design Hotels leadership), such as The Lobby, LE Miami
- Lead on the organization of owner-specific events such as Originals’ Circle (including communications, guest list management, owner liaison)
- Input to the Arena* thought leadership program to ensure the agenda is valuable and insightful for owners and members
- Create and manage an owner calendar of events that drive added value for our owners by way of webinars or other in person networking / learning hubs
Creative Community
- Identify opportunities to foster collaboration between hotels and the wider creative community: for example, cultural programming, culinary exchanges, pop-ups (with a view to commercialise in future)
- Establish and manage B2B community engagement (owners and creatives) to keep owners connected with trends and the latest happenings
- Ensure brand and community strategy feeds PR opportunities for the Design Hotels brand
Brand Campaigns
- Oversee the Further strategy, including new report launches, pre- and post- launch communications, key stakeholder liaison, new content
- Develop and execute integrated brand campaigns including launches for the book, partnerships, magazines and similar
Brand Communications
- Establish communications plan and execute (working alongside creative and digital) to ensure owners and community members remain informed and engaged (inc. Members’ Memo, business updates to owners)
- Oversee all social media activity on behalf of Design Hotels
- Oversee onboarding and overall communications strategy to include messaging, new member gifting, annual “moments” such as holiday greetings, etc.
- Ensure owner collateral is kept up-to-date and delivered to a high standard

Degree / Experience
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business administration, marketing or related field
- 10+ years experience
- Marketing background
- Both agency and brand-side background strongly desired
- Languages: English, other languages a plus
